Mid-Facelift: Cost, Procedure, and What to ExpectPsoriasis: Simple Skin Care Tips Erase aging with a 'Mid-Facelift'? Age, Away! Decide to have a traditional facelift is hard enough: After all, it is costly and invasive surgery in the most remarkable part of your body. Now the decision can be even more difficult. Some plastic surgeons are promoting a controversial procedure called "medium-side lifting," which can be done by itself or can be done along with a traditional facial lift. The incisions made on the mid-side lift are the same as those made on the traditional facial lift, but the surgeon cuts much deeper into the muscle tissue of the face in the most recent procedure. This allows the surgeon to throw the muscles around the nose and on the cheeks up. The surgeon then these tissues in the structures below the shots. By adding this additional step to the face lift, the mediaportion of the face, which is usually not changed by the face lift, moves and is secured above in the face. Some say this gives a more natural appearance. Others say it is an added step that offers little long-term change to the patient's face. "There are several doctors who make the face-to-face lift, but it's a technically delicate operation. And since you have to be very aware of the anatomy and be prepared to deal with things that may go wrong, some doctors are criticizing the procedure," says Elliot Jacobs, MD, plastic surgeon at Beth Israel Hospital in New York. "Some say it's too prone to complications, but it's not, if you know what you're doing. "Many people considering a facelift can find that being too big a "yes." However, the procedure is growing in popularity, as facial lifting patients and cosmetic surgeons look for ways to make traditional facial lifts look more natural. Complex Surgery"Medium face lifting is a very new treatment," says Jacobs. "It's totally revolutionary, and it allows me to do things I can never do with any other procedure. Many of my mid facial lift patients are younger, in their 30s and 40s, and they don't want a full lift, just a younger look. "ContinueMost surgeons would classify a facelift as an important operating procedure, says H. George Brennan, MD, a cosmetic surgeon in Newport Beach, Calif., and a spokesman for the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons. "It's complex surgery," says Brennan. "Not only do you want to consult with a plastic surgeon certified by the board, but you have to get a doctor who has extensive experience in this mid-sided lift. Sometimes people have the idea that a facelift is not a real surgery, but it's a very real surgery. It comes with its own risks, and the best way to address these risks is to go with highly qualified experts in this particular procedure." According to Shan Baker, MD, president of the American Academy of Facial, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and director of the Center for Facial of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, "The facelift has changed radically over the past 15 years." Doctors, he says, are performing surgery under deep facial muscle tissues to achieve "a more natural and less operated look. "The new operation is becoming more common" because of the feeling that there was an imbalance in the upper face and the lower face in the traditional facial lifts," Baker explains. "[The middle-sided lifting] was supposed to give a more flat and youthful look to the folding of the lower eyelids along the sides of the nose and below." But, he says, that claim is debatable. Does it work? Surgery itself takes about 60-90 minutes. According to Jacobs, it begins with the same lower incision of the eyelids, just below the tabs, which begins a traditional facial lift. Working through that incision, he says, "I like to go to the bottom, passing all the tissues to the corner of the . And here is where the elevator of the middle face differs: Lift the whole cheek and put the stitches inside and attach them to the bone around the area of the eye socket, all inside. "Why do you do that? "This procedure allows me to clean the fold and lift the fold and raise the cheek tissue that tends to descend as time passes," explains Jacobs. In comparison, he says, "The classic facelift involves incisions around the ear and returns to the ear and does very little on the fold of the middle face around the nose. "ContinuingOnce these procedures are complete, Baker adds, the doctor will usually remove any fat bag nearby and trim any extra to remove the lines and . But according to Baker, there is not much evidence that the average elevator produces the kind of improvement that some doctors claim. "The theory is that you have a very soft lower eyelid, which flows directly to the cheek, and a softer and more natural nasolabial fold," he says. "But that is a point that is debated; and many doctors feel that the complexity of the procedure is not worth the benefits, which many see as insignificant. " Jacob disagrees: "A good way to think about this operation is like an introductory way to deal with the first signs of aging. "Since it's a cosmetic procedure, the average lifting is not covered by: It costs about $7,500, depending on where you've done it. Side effects are the same as those of a traditional facial lift: inflammation, bruises, inflammation and pain. In rare cases, there may also be, and sometimes a second procedure may be needed to make corrections to the treated areas. In general, Jacobs says, "People go back to work within a week." One of the first signs of facial aging is the soaking of cheeks or the loss of fullness. This is seen with a growing distance from the lower eyelids to the cheek, the mass of tears and the mass of malar and the loss of the youth curve of the cheek, the Ogee curve. Also appear some jowls and deepening of the nose to the mouth (nasolabial). This aging of the cheek is the result of a combination of several areas of loss, from loss of skin elasticity, loss of skin volume, to loss of fat and muscles that contribute to the sagging and flattening of the cheeks. The main objective of MidFace Rejuvenation using the MidFace Lift is to restore the youthful appearance of the cheek by repositioning the soft tissues to produce a natural fullness and curve. This is commonly referred to as the "Ogae cave".
